Greetings Comrades
Well it’s been 1 year since the closing on the Post building and much has changed, weather those changes will be for the good or bad only time will tell, it will be up to us as members to help define what that direction in which we take.
The leaders of the post continue to find ways to be involved in the community events and to provide services for our veterans. If you haven’t seen the new website, check it out at www.vfwpost295.org we are working on it to keep members and others informed on what we are doing.
This past month outside of our usual Veterans Home visits to Hastings and Mpls, we all so participated in the Inver Grove Heights Days parade and the city Business Expo. I want to Thank Ken, Sol and Mike for your help on Sunday at the Expo and those that participated in the parade the Auxiliary looked great in their Stars and Stripes flag jackets.
On our website you will find information on the VA Navy’s Blue Water bill that was passed there is contact information if you need help with filing or refiling claims.
By the time this goes to print we will have had our information Post and Auxiliary meeting about the future of the Post the information gathered will be compiled in hopes to get a better idea of the direction in which to pursue to make sure the VFW in a valuable part of the community and for those Veterans in and around our community.
In mid-September your leadership attended the Dept Fall Convention in Mahnomen Minnesota. This conference kicks off the year for the new department leadership. Information and changes or put out to program committee chairpersons and other leadership meetings.
Upcoming Events
Veterans Day Nov 11th will be held at the Moose Lodge again this year with a short program and a toast at 11:11am The Moose will have a show that evening as well time 7pm cost is $10.00 Dollars watch for changes.
100th Anniversary get your reservation in to the Quartermaster. Our Guest Speaker will be the
Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander-in-Chief William “Doc” Schmitz.
